Since Y Dref Werdd was established in 2006, safeguarding the environment has been the main aim of the project and we hope that this important work will continue far into the future.

We have been protecting habitats, working with volunteers, giving talks and educational sessions to schools and running nature groups for children.

This work is important – It brings the community together, promotes looking after the environment and stresses the importance of protecting our planet.

Our plans for the future…

  • Safeguarding local rivers.
  • Control invasive species – particularly Japanese Knotweed, Rhododendron Ponticum and Himalayan Balsam.
  • Make charcoal out of the wood of Rhododendron Ponticum.
  • Develop a community woodland/orchard.
  • Plant native trees.
  • Develop more community green spaces.
  • Childrens nature activities programme.
  • Adults nature activities programme.
  • Volunteering opportunities.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Free dog fouling bags for the community.
  • Encourage recycling and reducing negative impact on the environment.
